SFB’s famous Opening Night 2010 cast for Neumeier’s The Little Mermaid (Yuan Yuan Tan as ‘Mermaid’, Tiit Helimets as ‘Prince’, Hamburg Ballet’s Lloyd Riggins as ‘Poet’, Sarah Van Patten as ‘Princess’, and Davit Karapetyan as ‘Sea Witch’) has given us numerous photos with which to boost our memories of last year’s production.
While the above 2010 ‘Mermaid’ cast has been chosen for the national/international broadcast & DVD to be filmed this 5/3 & 5/5/11, what of 2010’s other equally famous Mermaid, Prince, Sea Witch, and Poets?
With a little coaxing of the very busy SFB PR Dept. and the man in charge of SFB’s web image archive (‘Thanks’ to all!), I have succeeded in obtaining permission to show a few photos of some of our other incredible 2010 ‘Mermaid’ cast (sadly, I do not have any of Vanessa Zahorian’s ‘Princess’).
With the exception of Damian Smith (a remarkable ‘Poet’ in 2010), who is currently ‘out’, all Mermaid ‘2010’ cast members are scheduled to repeat this year, in addition to some new faces.
To refresh our memories, 2010’s ‘Mermaid’ casting saw these Dancers in the following roles:
Mermaid: Yuan Yuan Tan, Sarah Van Patten
Prince: Tiit Helimets, Pierre-Francois Vilanoba
Princess: Sarah Van Patten, Vanessa Zahorian
Poet: Pascal Molat, Hamburg Ballet’s Lloyd Riggins, & Damian Smith (‘out’ for 2011’s ‘Mermaid’ run)
Sea Witch: Davit Karapetyan, Garen Price Scribner*
2011’s ‘Mermaid’ new faces:
Mermaid: Lorena Feijoo*
Prince: Vitor Luiz*
Princess: Madison Keesler*
Sea Witch: Jaime Garcia Castilla, dancing Sunday 5/1/11, and Wednesday 5/4/11
*These Dancers were originally scheduled for Sunday 5/1/11; due to casting changes, we are still uncertain when they will be dancing.
